ICC World Cup 2019 Stadium Details & Seating Capacity

The International Cricket Council in negotiations for the 60,000-seat venue to be among the tournament’s 12 venues. A sell out of the new home of West Ham United would be expected for a match featuring England against another top nation, likely Australia, and would double the 30,000 capacity of Lord’s, the UK’s largest cricket ground.
“It would be an amazing statement to have 55,000 to 60,000 people in a ground in the UK watching ICC World Cup 2019 Live Streaming,” ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said.
A second match would likely be another group match between two powerhouses, potentially India and Pakistan, who have huge followings in the UK. Because the stadium was originally built for athletics – for which it is still re-converted for events such as the Anniversary Games and the upcoming World Championships – has the right dimensions for cricket, the move would require the installation of a drop-in wicket.
The temporary pitches are routinely used at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and in New Zealand, which T20 Big Bash matches in Australia are played at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium with drop-in wickets. However, the wicket is said by rule the stadium out of hosting the tournament’s opening ceremony. Harrison’s comments come as part of a series of innovations planned for cricket in England that will aim to attract more young players to the game.
